SPATIAL DESIGN LAYOUTS FOR LONG DURATION FOUR-PERSON SPACECRAFT

This study considers how to fit the most long-term crew accommodation within the smallest volume. The minimum criteria for each design is 200 days with a crew of four. After a historic study general shapes for human spacecraft, this paper examines three options for cylindrical vehicles of different diameters. The new layouts are designed in that can handle positive G (launch, surface), possible negative G (centrifugal spin), and microgravity flight modes.
